Q: What is the main material the cap made of?
A: Manganese steel, also known as Hadfield steel or mangalloy, is a steel alloy that's known for its toughness, ductility, and ability to work harden.
Manganese steel is more resistant to corrosion than carbon steels which often used for car body because of the adsorption of manganese ions. In case of scratches, simply spray paint will do the rustproof.
All bolts and nuts are stainless steel.
Aluminum cap is also available for special order with around 300$ extra cost. Two to three months time is expected.
Q:Can I take off and reinstall the cap by myself?
A: Yes, the installation is non-invasive with bolting to the factory prebuilt sockets. Being between 120kg and 140kg depends on size,it is difficult for one or two persons to install with arms. A hoist lift system on the garage celling make it doable easily by one person. Many youtube videos can be searched out.
